Emily DeMoor, Ph.D.

Evaluates LIMEX focus courses:
Universe as Divine Manifestation
Emergent Universe: Our Sacred Story

I am an educator, curriculum theorist and community activist whose praxis is directly grounded in the natural world and realized through teaching, writing, public speaking, consulting, and the arts.  My strong commitment to ecological issues grows out of a sacred cosmology. The first Loyola Institute for Ministry graduate to earn a Masters of Pastoral Studies degree with a focus in Religion and Ecology, I now serve on the adjunct faculty in this content area teaching courses that I co-created with Dr. Kathleen O’Gorman, under the guidance of the renowned ecotheologian Thomas Berry.  My doctoral work focused on the natural world as the primary educator for ecological sustainability.

Since Hurricane Katrina I have relocated to North Adams, Massachusetts, where I serve on the Education Department faculty of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, while remaining on the adjunct faculty of the Loyola Institute for Ministry.  My place-based, interdisciplinary praxis engages several areas of inquiry including ecotheology, integral ecology, garden-based education, and children’s spirituality.
