Writing Assistance for LIMEX Students
Assistance with written assignments for courses in the LIM Extension graduate program is offered in conjunction with Loyola University’s Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) center. This gives LIM Extension Program graduate students the opportunity to confer with a writing consultant on all phases of the writing process. Detailed information can be found online at the Writing Consultant web page.
Library Services for LIMEX Students
The Loyola Libraries consist of the Monroe Library and Law Library. Holdings include more than 375,000 volumes, access to more than 27,000 e-books, and 36,000 print and electronic journals, 11,000 music scores, 357,000 microform units, and 5,500 media titles.
Loyola’s Distance Library Service provides research assistance and free article and book delivery. Extension students with Internet access are encouraged to log on to the library’s web page at http://library.loyno.edu. This page provides links to the library’s online catalog and research data bases. To log in to library resources, use your Loyola email username and password. The username is the first part of your email address. If you do not know your Loyola e-mail address, you can find it in the Loyola directory, or you can find it in the "Personal Info" section of your LORA account. For example, if your email address is stiggy@loyno.edu, your username is stiggy. If you haven't changed your password, it should still be set at the default, which is a six digit number consisting of your birth year (4 digits) followed by your birth month (2 digits). For example, if you were born in May 1980, your default password would be 198005.
Detailed information regarding access of the library’s electronic resources by distance students can be found in the LIM Guide to Written Theological Reflection. Click here for an overview of what can be found in the Reflection Guide. You may contact Distance Library Services by dialing direct to 504-864-7152 or 504-864-7138 or toll-free in the U.S. and Canada 877-614-0633; by fax 504-864-7142; or by email distlib@loyno.edu. When you call the library, please let them know you are a LIM distance education student.
The practicalities involved in obtaining books through the mail often make it difficult for students to use this feature of the Distance Library Services. It is for this reason that the Extension Program requires that a professional library be established locally for extension students that must include, but is not limited to, the books on the LIMEX bibliographies. Sponsoring agencies also agree to provide access for students to college, public and theological libraries in their area. These local libraries enhance student access to a great variety of additional resource materials.
Detailed information can be found online at the Library Resources Web Page: http://www.lim.loyno.edu/extension/libraryresources.html
