How does the Into the Fields program work?
Into the Fields is a dynamic, three-year formation process. Generally, participants join an ITF learning group in their local parish, school, or other setting. The ITF formation process consists of 10 educational modules per year, totaling 30 modules over three years. ITF participants also experience 30 powerful spiritual exercises, learn dozens of practical catechetical skills that work in real-life teaching situations, and review the content of the Catholic faith. top

How will the partnership between Twenty-Third Publications and Loyola work?
Twenty-Third Publications is responsible for the creation, design, marketing, sales, and training for the new, catechist-formation program called Into the Fields. The Loyola Pastoral Life Center will offer continuing education units, annually, to those ITF participants who successfully complete Year One, Year Two, and Year Three of the formation process. top

When will this begin?
We anticipate that you will be able to take part in Into the Fields in your area -- and thus officially seek continuing education units from Loyola – during the early days of Fall 2006. Check this webpage again soon for more information! top

How many continuing education units will be awarded?
Loyola will award two (2) continuing education units every time a person successfully completes 10 educational models (that is, one year of the Into the Fields program). An ITF participant who completes all 30 educational modules (that is, all three years of this formation program) will have earned a total of six (6) continuing education units from Loyola University New Orleans. top

Do I have to do something special to apply for continuing education units from Loyola?
Yes. As soon as you have registered for an Into the Fields learning group in your local area, you should return to this webpage and fill out an application form for Loyola continuing education units. top

How much will the Loyola continuing education units cost?
Loyola will award two (2) continuing education units every time a person successfully completes 10 educational models (that is, one year of the Into the Fields program). Two c.e.u. will cost $50. Thus, the cost for all three years of ITF -- a total of six (6) continuing education units from Loyola University New Orleans – will be $150 . top

How will I pay for the continuing education units?
Into the Fields participants will be able to conveniently pay tuition (annually) for their ITF continuing education units via the Loyola Institute for Ministry webpage. top

How will I know that the continuing education units have been awarded to me by Loyola?
Once we receive an attendance record from your Into the Fields group leader verifying that you have met all requirements to complete the 10 modules of an ITF year, 2 continuing education units will be posted to your Loyola transcript. You will be able to view and print your grade report from LORA.

Once you have completed all three years – i.e., all 30 modules – of the ITF formation process, you will receive, from the Loyola Pastoral Life Center, an attractive and professionally-printed, suitable-for-framing completion certificate to mark your accomplishment. top

Can I get a continuing education transcript from Loyola University?
Yes. Loyola University New Orleans keeps a permanent record of all c.e.u. awarded to adult learners like you. You are entitled to request a transcript, that documents your successful reception of c.e.u. from Loyola, at any time once your units are awarded . top

Does completion of Into the Fields and reception of continuing education units from Loyola mean I that am certified as a parish catechist or religion teacher in a school?
No. When you receive c.e.u. for completion of one or more years of the Into the Fields program you gain a level of recognition and credentialing. This credentialing provides a portable form of documentation that shows that you have completed part or all of the catechist formation program called Into the Fields.  The award of continuing education credits by Loyola does not imply any type of formal or official certification – nor does it  suggest that a participant is certified to engage in parish, diocesan or school catechetical ministry. To seek official certification as a catechetical minister and/or school teacher, Into the Fields participants should consult the proper authorities in their Catholic diocese. top

Do I have to get the continuing education units from Loyola in order to participate in the Into the Fields program in my area?
No. You may elect to seek continuing education units as you begin either Year One, Year Two, and/or Year Three of the Into the Fields program. But you do not have to seek and pay for c.e.u. from Loyola in order to take part in Into the Fields. top
