Soon thereafter, CPI, which would later be renamed Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM), moved to Loyola. Maurice guided this transition and through his educational expertise, facilitated LIM’s full acceptance as a graduate program at Loyola. (No small feat to win approval as a full-fledged graduate program in a university whose mission at the time was an emphasis on undergraduate education.)
Soon after LIM became established as a graduate program, Maurice took the first step in developing the extension program in response to requests from regional bishops that our education needed to be extended to the grassroots laity who could not come to New Orleans to study. Maurice laid the foundation by hiring Charles Winters with his expertise in distance education.
The Institute owes a debt of gratitude to Maurice for his competent leadership at a critical time in our history – a time of grace and opportunity.
Maurice is currently consultant at the Vallarta Institute: www.vallartainstitute.com.
