LIM Welcomes Dr. Gilberto Ruiz

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Gilberto Ruiz who joins the Loyola Institute for Ministry as Assistant Professor of Scripture. He begins officially on August 1, and Dr. Evelyn Thibeaux remains Instructor of Record for our Bible courses until then.

Dr. Ruiz grew up in Miami.  He majored in theology and English at Boston College. He received a Master's of Theological Studies with a concentration in Scripture and Interpretation from Harvard Divinity School.  His doctoral dissertation at Emory University was entitled "Temple Commerce and John 2:13-22."  His secondary area of study at Emory was history of religion in Latin America.  He is active with the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) and the Association of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States (ACHTUS).
